Product Description

Planck`s Constant Apparatus (AE206)

Determining Planck`s Constant Using Photo Vacuum Tube illustrates the basic concept of the Quantum Mechanics. It helps to understand the phenomena of photon, its energy, frequency, etc. This product is mainly used to determine the fundamental constant of Quantum Mechanics called Planck`s constant. It is an effective and easy way to determine this constant. For the invention of Planck`s constant Max Planck is awarded by Nobel Prize in 1918. The setup consists of Photo Vacuum Tube, glass filters of different color, Variable DC Supply, digital voltmeter and ammeter. Using this setup we can also calculate the energy of photon. Planck`s constant relates the energy of light photons to their frequency.

FAQs of Plancks Constant Apparatus (AE206):

Q: How does the AE206 measure Plancks constant using the photoelectric effect?

A: The AE206 directs specific wavelengths of light, using provided color filters, onto a photo diode. This induces the photoelectric effect, releasing electrons and generating an electronic stopping voltage. The apparatus digitally measures this voltage for various wavelengths, allowing the calculation of Plancks constant from the linear relationship between the frequency and the stopping voltage.

Q: What accessories are included with the Plancks Constant Apparatus (AE206)?

A: The apparatus comes complete with a set of color filters for wavelength selection, connecting wires for easy assembly, a comprehensive user manual, and all necessary calibration performed at the factory to ensure immediate usability out of the box.

Q: When and where can the AE206 apparatus be used?

A: It is designed for use in educational laboratories, physics classrooms, and university research settings. The device functions optimally within ambient temperatures of 0C to 50C, and its portable, robust construction means it can be relocated or set up on different tabletops as required.

Q: What safety features protect the user and apparatus during operation?

A: The AE206 includes built-in overload and short-circuit protection to safeguard both the user and the internal electronics. Its sturdy metal and acrylic construction further enhances operational safety, even in active laboratory environments.

Q: How do you perform an experiment with the AE206 apparatus?

A: Select a color filter to choose a specific LED wavelength, position it in the apparatus, connect the included wires, and follow the manuals procedure. The digital display shows the stopping voltage, which can be recorded for each filter to plot and calculate Plancks constant.

Q: What are the benefits of using this apparatus in an educational setting?

A: The AE206 offers a hands-on approach to mastering quantum physics concepts. Its precision, ease of setup, and clear digital output help students link theoretical knowledge with practical experimentation, enhancing both teaching and learning outcomes.
