Product Description

Maxwells Bridge is used to measure the unknown value of Inductance. The instrument has following inbuilt parts fitted in ABS Plastic case.

AC Source :The Bridge consist of sine wave signal of 1KHZ. The Amplitude of AC switch indicating lamp is provided on the bakelite board. Two sockets are provided for the output of AC signals.

Detector :For detecting small AC signals in the output, Null Detector is in-built with digital display.

Circuit Diagram :The circuit layout on the board is quite spread out to facilitate convenient working & clear understanding. 4mm socket are provided for making connections.

Features:

P ---- Three decade resistance dials having value 10, 100W, 10-10W and 10,1W
R ---- Single decade resistance dial having value 10,100W.
L1----- Fixed standard inductance having value 20 mH
L2---- unknown inductance.
R1----Continuously variable resistance 0 to 100 ohm for impedance matching in dc arm.

Terminals are provided for external connections to connect unknown inductance.

FAQs of Maxwell Inductance Bridge:

Q: How do I use the Maxwell Inductance Bridge for measuring inductance and resistance?

A: To measure inductance or resistance, connect the test component to the appropriate four-terminal binding posts labeled L and R. Select the desired test frequency (50 Hz or 1 kHz) and adjust the precision resistance decade switches and analog dial until a null is detected using the headphone or electronic null detector.

Q: What are the benefits of using the Maxwell Inductance Bridge in laboratory settings?

A: This bridge offers high accuracy up to 0.5%, broad measurement ranges, and selectable test frequencies. It supports educational demonstrations and precise calibration tasks, making it ideal for both teaching and laboratory research.

Q: When should I use the supplied calibration certificate?

A: The calibration certificate should be referenced whenever you require validated measurement accuracy and traceability, particularly during instrument calibration, quality checks, or when complying with laboratory standards.

Q: Where can the bridge be applied besides educational labs?

A: Besides educational laboratories, the Maxwell Inductance Bridge is suitable for calibration labs, research facilities, and any setting requiring accurate measurement of inductance, quality factor, and resistance, such as in industrial or electronics testing environments.

Q: What is the process for switching between battery and AC power?

A: To switch power sources, connect the bridge to either a 9V battery or plug it into a 230V AC supply using the designated terminal. Ensure the unit is powered off during the changeover to prevent any damage or measurement variation.

Q: How does using a four-terminal connection improve measurement accuracy?

A: Four-terminal binding posts minimize errors from lead and contact resistance, leading to more precise and reproducible measurements of inductance and resistance, especially critical for calibration and research purposes.

Q: What is the maximum dimension and weight and how does it affect portability?

A: The bridge measures 280 mm x 125 mm x 150 mm and weighs approximately 2.5 kg, making it compact and suitable for bench-top use. Its moderate weight allows for easy movement between educational, laboratory, and calibration environments.
