Product Description

Hay Bridge

This bridge is an AC bridge used to measure the Inductance. This bridge self inductance is measurement the resistance in series with the standard capacitor. This bridge gives a simple expression for Q-Factor. This bridge given very simple expression for unknown inductance for high coil and suitable for coil. (If we examine for Q-Factor : Q = 1/ wCR4). We find that the resistance R4 appears in the denominator. Hence for high coil its value should be small. Thus this bridge only low value resistor. This bridge requires a parallel resistor.

Standard Accessories:

  • AC Source :The Bridge consist of sine wave signal of 1KHZ. The Amplitude of AC switch indicating lamp is provided on the bakelite board. Two sockets are provided for the output of AC signals.

Detector :For detecting small AC signals in the output, Null Detector is in-built with digital display.

Precision Measurement Capabilities

This Hay Bridge supports both inductance and capacitance measurements over wide ranges, ensuring high accuracy (0.5% of reading) with a sensitivity of 10 V. The unit is designed for exacting applications where dependable, precise results are essential, providing reliable data for educational and laboratory research.

User-Friendly and Durable Design

Built into a high-impact ABS enclosure, this portable benchtop device features ergonomic controls and a matte, anti-static finish. It is easy to handle, transport, and set up, making it suitable for laboratory benches and classroom demonstrations alike.

Safety, Compliance, and Easy Calibration

The device includes overload and short-circuit protection and is factory calibrated for immediate use. Users can recalibrate if needed. Complying with IS/IEC 61010-1 standards, it ensures operator safety and consistent performance throughout its operational range.

FAQs of Hay Bridge with Oscillator and Null Detector:

Q: How does the Hay Bridge detect a balanced condition during measurement?

A: The instrument uses a high-sensitivity null detector paired with an audio buzzer to indicate when the bridge is balanced, ensuring precise adjustments and accurate readings.

Q: What is the oscillator frequency range available, and how can it be selected?

A: The built-in oscillator offers a selectable frequency range from 500 Hz to 5 kHz, allowing users to optimize measurements for various component types and minimize error due to frequency-dependent factors.

Q: When is user calibration necessary, and is factory calibration provided?

A: Each unit is factory calibrated for immediate, accurate use. User calibration is optional and recommended if maximum accuracy is required after extended use or in specific measurement conditions.

Q: Where should the Hay Bridge be used for optimal performance?

A: This device is ideal for use in controlled laboratory or educational settings. It operates reliably within a temperature range of 0C to 50C and requires a standard 230V AC mains supply.

Q: What process should be followed for measuring inductance or capacitance?

A: Connect your test specimen using the gold-plated four-terminal inputs, select the appropriate oscillator frequency, and adjust the bridge controls. Listen for the audio indicator and observe the analog panel meter to detect the null point for precise measurement.

Q: How does electromagnetic shielding benefit the devices accuracy?

A: Electromagnetic shielding reduces the influence of external interference, ensuring highly stable and accurate measurement results, even in environments with electrical noise.

Q: What are the main advantages of using the Hay Bridge for measurement tasks?

A: It provides reliable, high-precision inductance and capacitance readings with simple operation, robust safety features, compliance with international safety standards, and long-term durability in a portable, user-friendly design.
