Product Description

Decade Capacitance Box

The Decade Boxes are built into a light weight plastic casing or Metal Casing. These are very easy to use for Testing and Calibration of Test and Measuring equipments. Their main function is to create a value of passive elements (Capacitor) using a combination of the rotary decade switches. A wide range of passive element is selectable from the given assembly, which allows direct read out from the position of knobs. Values can be obtained from the onboard terminal.

Single Dial of 0.001mF/0.01mF/0.1mF/1mF (Select any one dial) (AE 561)

  • Polyster Capacitor, Accuracy  3%
  • Maximum Input Voltage 400v P/P

Two Dials of 0.001mF & 0.01mF or Two Dials of 0.01 & 0.1mF or Two Dials of 0.1 & 1mF (AE 562)

  • Polyster Capacitor, Accuracy  3%
  • Maximum Input Voltage 400v P/P

Three Dials of 0.001, 0.01 & 0.1mF or Three Dials of 0.01, 0.1 & 1mF (AE 563)

Paper Condenser in Bakelite/wooden Box Any value from 0.001 to 1mF. (AE 565)

Reliable and Precise Capacitance Simulation

Offering seven decades of selectable capacitance with fine 10 pF resolution, this box allows users to rapidly and accurately simulate any value within the 100 pF to 111.1 F range. The mechanical rotary switches provide instant selection response, and the easy-to-read color-coded scales simplify adjustment and minimize errors during use.

Durable, Safe, and User-Friendly Design

Constructed with a robust powder-coated metal body, the box withstands intensive laboratory use. Heavy-duty switches and high insulation resistance increase operational safety, while simple mechanical indication and banana socket connectors ensure user convenience. Its RoHS compliance and high dielectric strength make it a secure choice for both educational and industrial application.

FAQs of Decade Capacitance Box:

Q: How is capacitance adjusted or selected using this decade capacitance box?

A: Capacitance is precisely selected by rotating the heavy-duty mechanical rotary switches, each corresponding to a decade value. Users can dial the exact capacitance required, from 100 pF up to 111.1 F, in defined increments for accurate simulation or calibration.

Q: What are the primary applications and benefits of using a decade capacitance box in the laboratory?

A: This device is widely used for simulating and calibrating different capacitance values in educational, research, and development settings. It enables efficient testing, troubleshooting, and circuit development, ensuring accurate results when measuring or calibrating other instruments.

Q: When should I use this decade capacitance box instead of fixed capacitors?

A: Use this box whenever you need to simulate, select, or calibrate a broad range of capacitance values in quick succession, which is highly impractical with individual fixed capacitors. It is particularly suitable during experimental circuit design or instrument calibration stages.

Q: Where can the decade capacitance box be mounted or used?

A: Its sturdy construction and bench-top design allow it to be conveniently placed on laboratory benches, test stations, or workbenches in educational institutions, R&D labs, and industrial calibration facilities.

Q: What process should I follow to connect and measure with this box?

A: Simply connect your test circuit or measuring instrument to the 4 mm banana socket terminals, then use the rotary switches to set the desired capacitance. No external power supply is necessary as the device operates passively and instantly reflects the selected value for accurate measurements.

Q: What are the advantages of the enclosure and terminal design?

A: The powder-coated metal enclosure provides strength and minimizes electromagnetic interference, while the color-coded banana sockets and switches ensure safe, reliable, and user-friendly connections. This results in increased durability, stability, and longevity for the equipment.
